Dumont Network Goldbergs
“The Goldbergs” is a comedy drama television series that aired on from 1949 to 1956. The show was originally a broadcast on NBC radio from 1929 to 1946. It was also adopted into a play, musical, and film. The television series aired on CBS from 1949-1951, on NBC from 1952-1953, on the Dumont network in 1954, and in a final version that was aired in syndication in 1955 aired on local stations until 1956.
The series was one of the first sitcoms to be made and was about life at home for a Jewish family that lived in the Bronx. The star of the show was Molly Goldberg who was played by Gertrude Berg who also wrote and directed most, if not all, the episodes. The show originally started as a way to portray the life of a Jewish family in apartment life but the family eventually began to display the struggles of moving into a suburban environment while being able to keep to their roots.
